A Certificate of Analysis can add useful context, but only when it can be connected to the product being assessed.
Match the product and batch
Compare the product name, batch or lot number and relevant dates on the report with the physical item.
Identify the laboratory
A useful report states who performed the analysis, when it was completed and how the report can be referenced or verified.
Read the method and result together
Results should be interpreted alongside the stated method, units, specification and sample information. A percentage without context may be misleading.
Check document integrity
Look for a report identifier and consistent formatting. If verification is offered, use the laboratory’s official contact channel.
